After the announcement of the newly formed NYSSCOGS/NYS Girls High School Soccer of Fame and its INAUGURAL CLASS, hosting the 1st ever induction ceremony and hosting a HS Tournament including 28 of the top teams in the state, everyone involved is preparing for another amazing class, ceremony and tournament ( which now includes 60 teams ).
"When opportunity knocks, don't let fear hold you back. Open the door and embrace the opportunity that has come FOURTH ". The Class of 2020 certainly had taken advantage of every opportunity that came their way both on and off the pitch. The class of 2020 includes some of NYS Top Coaches/Contributors and Players. Such coaches and contributors have laid the foundation to the greatness of today’s Girls High School Soccer in New York. Some of whom helped define our sport, coach, recruit and promote some of our COUNTRY’s best players, not to mention winning numerous titles, individual honors, state player of year awards, and so much more!
Honoree Coach Carve Enfield 1975-1993 at New Lebanon Class D school has over 250 wins with 12 sectional titles, 4 regional titles and 1 state title while playing league matches against B and A schools and is considered the "Father of Section 2 Soccer" for what he has done for that Section both ON and OFF the Pitch. Player inductee Tracie Yrigoyen is the consummate representative of HS Girls Soccer by being an all-star player winning 2 State Titles for Walt Whitman (inducted into HS HOF), going onto play D1 at Rhode Island (inducted into URI HOF), winning 2 National Titles playing in the only women's professional league at the time USWISL while becoming a teacher and now teaching and has coached one of the top Class AA teams in the State for over 25 years with over 200 wins and numerous championships and awards. Then we have Tanya Vogel who was Class A Penfield's best of the best whom went onto play at George Washington University, go on to become part of their coaching staff eventually becoming the Head Coach for several years and then appointed as George Washington's Director of Athletics !!! These are just some detailed examples of the greatness of NYS Girls High School Soccer and those who involved in this amazing sport and community.
